The AsusLaptop has Intel 855 GM graphic chipset. You need xfree86 4.3. To enable DRI see

I edited the xfree86 config file and added more video ram for dri:

Section "Device"
        Identifier "Standardgrafikkarte"
        Driver "i810"
        VideoRam 32768

I needed a newer DRM kernel driver. You can get those from:

Compile it and copy i830.o driver to /lib/modules/.../kernel/driver/char/drm

See AsusLaptopWlan.

Asus extra keys

Switch the extra LEDs on/off with the following commands:

echo 1 > /proc/acpi/asus/mled # turn email led on
echo 0 > /proc/acpi/asus/mled # turn email led off

The same for wled (wlan led).
